Discover the best restaurants, activities and events from an unbiased expert. I spent 2 years living in Hanover. I've tried to summarize some of the most fun / exciting things to do in the area here. It's a small town, but there is plenty to do, especially if you enjoy the outdoors.

Fort Lou's (Breakfast) - Most people will send you to Lou's on Main St., but skip the lines of hungover students eating brunch with their visiting parents by heading to The Fort in Lebanon. It's cheaper, just as good, and they serve bfast 24 hrs a day

Umpleby's (Lunch) - Solid sandwiches and great soups. They only have soup when it's cold out, but it's usually cold out

Carpenter & Main (Dinner) - Cheaper, more casual options when you sit in the bar area (it's still very nice). You can also order off of the main, dining room menu

Dartmouth Outing Club - DOC is a ludicrously good resource for anything outdoors related. They will rent you gear (cheaply) for anything from ice fishing to ice climbing.

Spend a weekend in a Dartmouth cabin - A little known fact is that as a member of the Dartmouth community you have access to a network of cabins that span from Hanover to the northernmost tip of New Hampshire. They range from near lean-tos to near hotel quality accomodations

Running Routes - A selection of challenging runs

Long Trail Brewery - The home of the (un)official beer of the Upper Valley. This is a great spot to stop on the way back from a day of skiiing, or for a trip on its own. It is about 30 min from town

The Canoe Club - The food is overpriced, but Daniel the bartender mixes up cocktails in pint glasses.

India Queen - Don't even think about ordering food. It's rumored to be cooked exclusively in the microwave. Head to IQ after dinner for the largest bottled beer selection in the UV and to smoke one of their many hookahs

Nugget Movie Theatre - It's small, but they get quality movies

The Hop - The Hop brings in solid performers from around the world

Dartmouth Coach - They offer multiple daily trips to Boston (and Logan) as welll as the Yale club in NYC

Cape Air - LEB airport is five minutes from Hanover. Cape Air offers flights to NYC (Islip) and Boston, Logan

Zip Car - Cars located on Dartmouth's campus by the gym

Stowe - The best resort around. You'll recognize the prices (from lift tickets to hamburgers) from your last trip to Vail

Killington - It's only 45 minutes from town to the first lift
