I wanted to check out what this virtual pet craze was all about, so I decided to try to make my own virtual pet. On this tab I have included the sites I have found that allow you to create and care for a virtual pet. I am not willing to pay to have a virtual pet of my own, and most of the sites I found come with a monthly fee, so I am holding off on creating a virtual pet of my own for now. But, check back, I could change my mind if I find the right free site.

Foo Pets - Created by a veterinarian, these look like cool virtual pets, but I'm not going to use Foo Pets since it costs about $5 a month, every month. It's not worth that much of my hard earned cash simply to have a virtual pet.

Club Penguin - This is more of a social network for young kids - though you do create a penguin which is sort of a pet. It costs $6 a month.

Tamagotchi - Tamagotchi's are virtual pets that you carry with you on a key chain.

The Top Ten Sites for Free Virtual Pets - About.com gives a great overview of 10 sites where I could create a virtual pet of my own for free. Club Penguin ranks number one, and neopets is number two.
